Becoming a Successful Christian Leader

Image
The Lord Jesus Christ is our perfect Leader and Saviour. He is our matchless Master, Model and Mentor. A look at His life and leadership style shows love, the foundation of all other Christian and leadership characteristics, was the prominent of His characteristic. Therefore, love should also be our gauge and guide. Two, love should be our model and measure even if we do not know what direction to follow, what counsel to give, what decision to take at a particular time. Three, love should be our passion and power. The passion of our heart, the pursuit of our life, the power of our leadership style should be the kind of love that characterised the life and ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ. The greatest of all the qualities, gifts, abilities and skills needed for life and leadership is love. The Word of God tells us the essence, importance and indispensability of love (1 Corinthians 13:1-3) as we lead, preach, exhort and help others to grow in the Lord and ministry. “Charity suffer

A Prayer

“A certain man had two sons: And the younger of them said to  his  father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth  to me . And he divided unto them  his  living. And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.” (Luk 15:11-13 KJV) LORD, fire me up and set me on fire”… Let not grace diminish in my life. Let me not become obsolete, ever before the work is done completely. The bane and doom of the Prodigal son was that he left home … he left the shadow of his father, into an open country … He took off, with confidence in his past experience and in a past blessing… He took off on a reservoir he gathered for himself… He left Baba (the father): the inexhaustible Reservoir, the Source that never runs dry and took off on a ‘Jerry can Reservoir’… How far can a man go on “gathered up” resources? LORD, deliver me from taking off, solely dependent on little things I have

Marvelous Prayer

Just when you think you’ve hit rock bottom, with no future in sight, God enters the scene and fills you with new hope. This is what He did for Abram—whom we know today as Abraham, the Father of faith. On the strength of a promise, seventy-five-year-old Abram and his wife, Sarai, left their home for a spiritual adventure—without a road map, not knowing where God was leading them. Abram journeyed to Egypt and returned a wealthy man—and a tither. Then the Lord, through a dynamic revelation, told Abram his seed would be numerous as the stars. ( Genesis 15:5 ) This meant he would have children. But how could this be, since he was old and his wife, Sarai, was well past her childbearing years? Anxious and tired of waiting, the barren couple thought they would help God’s promise along by having Abram father a son by Hagar, the Egyptian handmaiden of Sarai. They named the boy Ishmael. However, this wasn’t what God had in mind, and the family chaos which followed proved this to be

ONLY CHRIST'S ATONEMENT SATISFIES GOD

Image
1 John 2:1–2 ...if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins... Today, Jews still observe Yom Kippur or the Day of Atonement. As the name suggests, it is a day set aside to make atonement for one’s sins. But for Christians, this beautiful feast points to Jesus and what He did for us on the cross. Because of His sacrifice, all our sins have already been perfectly atoned for. That is why, should we sin, we know that “we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.” And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins. Now, it does not say that if anyone  repents , we have an Advocate with the Father. It says that if anyone  sins , we have an Advocate with the Father. The moment a child of God sins, straightaway, his Advocate, Jesus Christ, goes into action to pray for and protect him. What about repentance then? The word “repentance” is  metanoia  in the Greek, which means to chan

ATTAINING INTIMACY IN MARRIAGE (3)

Image
You are welcome into God’s presence in Jesus’ name!   Last week, I showed you the characteristics of intimacy.  This week, I want to share with you:  Hindrances to developing Intimacy . It is important to know that everything converse to enhancing and preserving intimacy is an obstacle; including the following: Pride             This makes you feel you are better than your husband, therefore, you can’t condescend and bring yourself low to do all that is required to foster intimacy. If you are proud your husband will likely want to prove to you that he is the one in charge. The Word of God says: Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom  (Proverbs 13:10). Anger              This can make your husband to fear you and seek either to defend himself or withdraw into an impenetrable shell. If this happens, there can be no intimacy. The Word of God says:  He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty … (Proverbs 16:32). Bitterness When you are

GOD CARES ABOUT LITTLE

Image
Prophet T.B. Joshua introduced a remarkable and life-changing message titled, ‘God Cares About Little’ with revelations of what God expects from us as children of God. Enlightening the congregation with the Word of God, he explained the above title using the proof text,  Matthew 19:21-22.  “Today, we all believe that we can only give out of abundance, excess, plenty, surplus because we are used to giving out only what we don’t need, what we have used, the left-overs in our store. Whatever you give out of little, it means a lot to you and it attracts God’s attention because it is what you cherish most – what your life depends on  (Mark 12:42-44) . He further emphasised on God’s interest in the little things we are ignorant of, “If we don’t know how much we need God in small things such as to walk, talk, smile, greet, dress up, we will always have certain occasions for prayer. If we don’t know how much we need God in small things, we cannot know how much we need Him in the big thing

TESTIMONY - Kathryn Kuhlman (4)

Image
Although many were praying for the sick in the charismatic renewal, perhaps the most prominent advocate for healing was Kathryn Kuhlman (1907-1976). During this era, she became "one of the best-known woman revivalists in America." When Kuhlman initially launched her ministry in the Pacific Northwest, she did not accentuate healing. Although occasionally ministering to the sick, Kuhlman was "chary about the propriety of healing services," write Robert Krapohl and Charles Lippy. She "determined that she would not indulge in the sensationalism that was obvious in most healing revivals." Her reticence about healing changed in 1946, after some notable encounters. Kuhlman writes, according to Allen Spraggett: "I was preaching in Franklin, Pennsylvania. One night my sermon was on the Holy Spirit. I hadn't mentioned healing. But the next night, before I began to preach, a woman stood up and said, 'Pardon me Miss Kuhlman, but I have a testimo

TESTIMONY - Kathryn Kuhlman (3)

"I Believe In Miracles" In 1966 Frank my husband took me to a Kathryn Kuhlman Miracle Service in Pittsburgh Penn. We waited for hours on a cold spring morning in May. We watched thousands of sick people gather on the steps, the yard and the street of the 1st Presbyterian Church. We arrived there approximately 12:00 Midnight, not ever imagining the direction or adventures God would take us on. About 4:00 a.m. I saw two huge angels, or what I believed to be angels standing at each end of the street looking and watching over us. Their features were big and bold and strong, but also gentle like a mother hen over her chicks. I saw them standing there until we went into the building. I've never told anyone these things. They have always seemed so private to me. They were at least 25 feet tall and neither one of them spoke, but you could tell they knew what the other one knew. They just watched. Ambulances would pull up to the front of the church and th

Pastor Benny Remembers Powerful Touch During Kathryn Kuhlman Meeting Four days before Christmas 1973, I went with a friend of mine, Jim Poynter, on a charter bus trip from Toronto to Pittsburgh to a meeting of Kathryn Kuhlman. It would be a day that would change my life forever! I knew very little about her ministry, but when we arrived at the First Presbyterian Church in downtown Pittsburgh, hundreds of people were already there, though the doors wouldn’t open for several hours. As I stood in line, I suddenly began to shake. Nothing like that had ever happened before. It didn’t stop. I was too embarrassed to tell Jim or anyone around me. Even when we got to our seats on the third row of the auditorium, the shaking continued. The longer it continued, the more beautiful it became. Then Kathryn Kuhlman appeared on stage. The atmosphere in the building changed immediately. Everyone began singing “How Great Thou Art.” Tears gushed down my face. It was a feeling of intense glory. I wa

REVIVAL - Kathryn Kuhlman (1)

HER BIOGRAPHY (KATHRYN KUHLMAN) (Learn from her mistakes and successes) Kathryn Johanna Kuhlman was born on May 9, 1907, in Concordia, Missouri. Her parents were German and she was one of four children. Her mother was a harsh disciplinarian, who showed little love or affection. On the other hand, she had an extremely close and loving relationship with her father. She would describe, as a small child how, her father would come home from work and she would hang on his leg and cling to him. She often said that her relationship with God the Father was extremely real because of her relationship with her own father. Kuhlman was converted, when she was 14, at an evangelistic meeting held in a small Methodist church. When she was 16 she graduated from high school, which only went to tenth grade in their town. He older sister Myrtle had married an itinerant evangelist, Everett B. Parrott.
